The Beckman Scholars Program at UMBC, funded by the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation, aims to support undergraduate students with a committed interest in research in the biological and chemical sciences in pursuit of an MD/PhD.

The Beckman Scholars Program at UMBC is open to students who major in a chemical or biological sciences discipline (Biological Sciences, Chemistry, and Biochemistry & Molecular Biology). Students who participate in the 14-month program will be paired with a research mentor at UMBC to work on an authentic research project for the duration of their tenure as a Beckman Scholar. UMBC Beckman Scholars will also have the opportunity to present their research at local and national conferences, as well as be encouraged to publish their research in peer-reviewed journals. UMBC Beckman Scholars will receive stipend-based funding throughout the 14-month program.

Any questions regarding the Beckman Scholars at UMBC Program may be directed to Ms. Caitlin Varisco (caitkow1@umbc.edu)
